I will be adding to this page as time goes by.

This is a list of little things and hints to make your recovery easier –
Well it is a list of things I encountered and thought it would be nice to share <3

  • ALWAYS WEAR A SHOE ON YOUR GOOD FOOT!
This may seem obvious to some. But as someone who usually goes barefoot in the house, I learned the hard way. I would run over toes, bruise the ankle, and clumsy bumps all the time.
  • Have some kind of bag on your scooter – keep your cellphone in it!
There is nothing worse than getting stuck somewhere (in the bathroom), and not being able to call for help.
  • Clothing – you may think wearing the loose pants is a smart move. Don’t go too loose, they will get you all tangled up, stick to the couch and throw you off-balance, and when getting off the toilet – not pretty . . . in fact just today I ran over my pant leg with my desk chair and it wrapped around the wheel! Thankfully my husband was home to rescue me 😛
On the other side, you may have that pair of pants that barely fit over your bandages. Works great all day. But by the time you are getting ready for bed, getting the pant leg over the bandages can be exhausting!
  • Keep the mindset of being one-footed
Once you are over the initial surgery and have the stitches out, you will start to forget. Don’t – you didn’t go through all you did to mess it up now.
  • Don’t over-do it
When the pain lessens you will think you can do more than you really should. But remember, your body is still healing inside. You will get tired very quickly, and that leads to being weaker, which makes it harder to get up and down, and accidents can happen.
  • You can do things
Fix yourself a cup of coffee. But be smart, use a travel mug.
Have a bag on your scooter you can slip things into.
You can even use the scooter to push the laundry basket down the hallway
    🙂
