About Butch’s Truck

In 1972, this 1939 Ford truck embarked on our part of the journey that would end up here.

My Dad Butch, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls Montana, brought home “The Truck“.  He was getting his haircut in the base barber shop and saw a bulletin board ad and after his hair cut, he got hold of the airman who was selling it and made the purchase of the 39 Ford with the intent of beginning restoration.

He fitted the front of the truck with a tow bar and put a trailer hitch on the back of our 20′ Winnebago motor home, and it moved with our family for the rest of his Air Force career.  From Montana to California, from California to Ohio, from Ohio to Alabama, from Alabama to Illinois, from Illinois back to Ohio where it has resided ever since.  Sitting in one garage after another, and even a storage locker for a while between houses.
